About Us
Who We Are
The University City Xplosion Track & Field Club was organized to provide
development in the area of track & field for youth ages 5 -18.
We provide a venue for children to become acquainted with the sport, participate in
local competition, and compete in regional and national events. The Xplosion Track
& Field Club is a member of both the AAU Ozark District and the USA Track & Field
Ozark Association.
Practice
Practice will begin on March 25th 2009. and will be held on Monday through
Friday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m at University City High School track stadium located
at 7401 Balson Road.

The U. City Xplosion qualified 37 out of 50 athletes to the 2008 AAU Region 8
meet in Joplin, Missouri—that’s 74%! 21 of the 37 qualified for the
AAU National Junior Olympics in Detroit, Michigan.
Participants in the 2008 AAU Jr. Olympic meet were:
Primaries: Kendall Battle, Mariama Brown, Jamie Conners & Zuri Reid – 4x100 meter
relay; Zuri Reid – 800 M Run
Bantams: Olivia Davis – High Jump, Shot Put; Ricky McCoy – 800 M Run, Long
Jump, Triathlon; JaNia McNeil- Shot Put, Triathlon
SubMidgets: Jaryn Blackshear-Bryant – Long Jump, Pentathlon; Malcolm Davis –
Shot Put; Sydney Evans – Shot Put; Jayla Riggins – 100 M Dash, 200 M Dash
Midgets: Bryan (BJ) Hodges, Jr – Pentathlon; Reggie Paige – Pentathlon;
Sub-Youth: Asiah Allen – Javelin, Petathlon; Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jurries – 3000 M
Run; Justin Thompson – Discus, Javelin, Shot Put; Shawn Whitley II – 100 M
hurdles, 200 M Hurdles, Long Jump, Pentathlon
Youth: Nelson Atkins- 100 M Dash; Long Jump; Emmanuel Price – 100 M Hurdles,
200 M Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump
Intermediate: Charles (CJ) Johnson – 2000 M Steeple chase, 3000 M Run
Young Women: Jantelle McNeil – Heptathlon, Javelin
Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jurries and Emmanuel Price also competed in the USATF Region
IX meet in Tulsa, OK in mid July.
Lissie competed at the USATF Jr. Olympic meet in Omaha, Nebraska..
Remember, when competing in a national competition you are competing against
the best in country. Congratulations also to the parents and coaches who made this
possible.
Our Successes
Each summer, approximately 30% of our athletes qualify to the
national AAU or USATF Junior Olympic each year. We credit this success to our
small team size and the individual attention that each athlete receives.
